Lab

Experiments,
kept

Side-by-side tests behind the playground. Each one records what was tried and which way won.

  1. L.01

    Lotus Temple, four ways

Sphere gores, parametric petals, extruded flat petals, and creased shells built to the drawings. The first three were judged lame against the reference, fairly. The fourth, two curved facets meeting at a ridge, with the three rings at their real heights and leans, is the one in the world. Three fixed views.

  2. L.02

    Lotus Temple, to the metre

Built from published measurements (70 m across, 40.8 m high, inner leaves 34.3 m, entrance leaves 15.4 by 22.5 m) with every part modelled: thick creased shells with marble seams, ribbed inner dome under a glazed crown, stepped podium with balustrades, nine stair bridges, nine lobed pools with sandstone kerbs, ring walk, paths, hedges, lamps and trees. Drag to orbit. The same builder feeds the playground.

  3. L.03

Monument lab, nine builds to the metre

Every monument built in metres from published measurements, with CSG-carved arches, water, glass and particles, rendered from the same front, three-quarter and top camera for comparing against reference photographs. Each build went through a review loop until the reviewer passed it. Taj Mahal India Gate Qutub Minar Gateway of India Lotus Temple Charminar Hawa Mahal Red Fort Humayun's Tomb
